Cannabis-Infused Recipes for the Summer

Summer is here, which means it’s time to dig into the summer recipes for something a little lighter, fresher, and filled with flavour. And why not infuse some cannabis from your local dispensary into your meals?

These summertime recipes ask for either infused cannaoil or cannabutter. Making these ingredients requires significant time and attention to detailed instructions, so it’s important you have a plan and prepare these ingredients before you start your summertime recipes. This is the most important part of any infused recipe.

For information on how to make infused cannaoil and cannabutter, check out our blog post on tips for cooking with cannabis.

Here are our favourite cannabis-infused recipes made with the flavours of summer:

Cannabis Infused Watermelon & Mint Salad

watermelon salad with feta and mint

Let’s start things off with a refreshing summer salad. This watermelon salad with mint, lime, and feta brings together some of the season’s finest flavours for a result that’s light and tasty, making for a perfect appetizer or afternoon snack. It’s the perfect pairing for a summer BBQ, providing some much-needed colour and nutrients to go along with the grilled food.

This recipe calls for infused cannaoil, but if you’d like to add some extra sweetness, a small dose of infused cannasugar on top wouldn’t be a bad idea for this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 400 grams of chopped watermelon
  • 50 grams of crumbled feta
  • 1/4 cup chopped mint chopped
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze
  • 2 tablespoon infused cannaoil
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1/3 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Instructions

  1. Make the base. The watermelon is the foundation of this salad, so chop up all 400 grams into roughly bite-sized chunks and add them to your serving bowl.
  2. Add the other flavours. Next you can add your roughly crumbled feta cheese, fresh-squeezed, lime juice, cannaoil, mint, plus salt and pepper.
  3. Whip up the balsamic reduction. This can be made quickly on the stove by adding the balsamic vinegar and sugar (or cannasugar) to a pot over medium heat for 5 minutes. Stir constantly, and once it reaches your desired thickness you’re ready to drizzle over the salad.

Cannabis Infused BBQ Sauce

BBQ sauce containers on top of meat

No summer is complete without barbecue. Whether you’re hungry for grilled meat, plant-based meat, or vegetables, barbecuing is an all-time summer ritual that maximizes our time outside and creates mouthwatering grill marks on dinner.

To go along with your barbecue, you’re going to need some BBQ sauce. You can toss that store-bought, fridge-burnt sauce to the side, because we’re making fresh cannabis-infused BBQ sauce.

This recipe calls for quite a bit of sugar, so if you’d like to swap some out for infused cannasugar you can do so – just be mindful of your dosage. This recipe is simple to throw together, but a little more difficult to manage serving sizes, so it helps to use measured bottles or containers to get your portions right.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup canna-oil
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon mustard

Instructions

  1. Into a large pot on the stove, combine ALL your ingredients and stir thoroughly.
  2. Heat your sauce until it begins to simmer. Once simmering, let it cook for about 15 minutes.
  3. Then you’re ready to marinate or store for later.

Cannabis Infused Carbonara

carbonara with bacon and cheese

Carbonara is a classic pasta dish made with fatty meat, eggs, and cheese. It’s simple but delicious, making for an excellent weeknight dinner recipe with an infused twist.

With this recipe you have two options to cook your pasta in – cannaoil or cannabutter. Cannabutter will create a much richer and heavier dish, while cannaoil will be more of that classic pasta flavour that’s a little easier to digest later. Just remember to keep the heat low to avoid oxidization of the cannabinoids.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon cannaoil
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 120 grams of pasta
  • 100 grams of diced bacon
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan
  • 1/3 cup grated Grana Padano
  • 1 teaspoon fresh cracked pepper

Instructions

  1. First, you’ll heat a frying pan over medium heat and cook the small pieces of bacon until crispy.
  2. Then you can go ahead and add your cannaoil and regular olive oil.
  3. Give it a quick stir then remove the pan from the heat right away and set it aside. Careful not to burn your oil!
  4. Boil your pasta with some salt, according to the instruction box.
  5. Remove the pasta from the water when it’s reached your desired tenderness and be sure to save a cup of pasta water for later.
  6. Combine your grated cheeses, eggs, and half the pepper together in a bowl and whisk well.
  7. Return the frying pan to low-medium heat and add half of the past water.
  8. Turn the heat to low, add the cooked pasta to the pan, and slowly pour the egg mixture in, mixing well the whole time.
  9. Return the bacon to the pan and turn off the heat.
  10. Now you’re ready to plate! Top with salt, pepper, and cheese to taste.

Cannabis Infused Tropical Smoothie

tropical pineapple smoothie

A tropical smoothie is the perfect summertime treat that can also be enjoyed for breakfast or whenever you’re feeling the sweet tooth cravings. You can use the tropical fruits of your choice for this recipe, but we’re going with pineapple and banana.

This recipe calls for infused cannabutter, but if you can make infused cannahoney that would work even better! In that case, you can sub out the cannabutter and regular honey.

Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 cup fresh pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk (any milk will work)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon cannabutter
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Toss all your fruit, milk of your choice, and optional chia seeds into a blender along with some ice cubes.
  2. Add your honey and cannabutter (or just your cannahoney) and blend.
  3. Once the mixture is smooth and creamy, you’re ready to serve.
